Jasmine Stansil is an MSTP student at the Renaissance School of Medicine rotating in Dr. Prerana Shrestha’s lab. She earned a B.S. in Physiology and Neuroscience from the University of California, San Diego. Jasmine previously worked in the Nelson lab at the University of California, San Francisco studying the striatal dysfunction associated with tardive dyskinesia, an involuntary movement disorder often seen as a complication of chronic treatment with neuroleptic drugs. Her general research interests are the cellular and circuit mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders. Her project in the Shrestha lab focuses on the mechanisms behind extinction learning and reinstatement using a Pavlovian cued threat conditioning model. In her free time, she enjoys listening to podcasts, running, and baking.
