Javed Iqbal is a postdoctoral associate in Dr. Prerana Shrestha's lab. He received his M.S. in Biotechnology from the International Islamic University, Islamabad, Pakistan, and his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Shaanxi Normal University, Xian, China. He completed his postdoctoral research training in Neuroscience in Dr. Xue Yanxue and Dr. Xiao JianJia Labs at Peking University, China where he studied the underlying molecular mechanisms of posttraumatic stress disorder. His primary research in Dr. Shrestha's lab addresses how translational machinery regulates the long-term aversive memories in medial prefrontal cortex and amygdala neurons. Outside the lab, he enjoys playing badminton, running, and traveling.
