Miura Traficante joined the lab as a summer SOAR research fellow. SOAR funding is a new initiative funded through the SUNY Chancellor that provides additional research opportunities to SUNY students who are Pell-eligible and or first-generation students. The program will be administered by the Center for Inclusive Education, in partnership with URECA.

Keith Yeung, undergraduate researcher in the lab, was selected to receive the Chhabra-URECA scholarship award in the amount of $7,000 to support research activities in the Shrestha lab during summer 2023. This award is generously sponsored with funding from the Chhabra Endowment for Undergraduate Summer Research and recognizes students with a strong passion for research.

Prerana gave a talk on Cell type-specific nascent protein synthesis in memory consolidation as an invited speaker at the Horizons of Molecular Biology symposium organized by IMRS students in Max Planck Institute, Gottenberg, Germany. She also participated in a panel discussion on “Who gets credit in Science”.
